Design Problem 7: Layers

I cut some shapes out of black construction paper, scanned
them into the computer, and opened them in photoshop.

The exercise above was done using a nine_square grid to layout boxes representing text and images. Each sheet is supposed to represent a page in a publication. There are different variations on different pages. The black rectangle(s)/square(s) represent text and the gray represents an image or photograph.

Purple

Each square was filled with colors to create different compositions within the same structure. The colors have different shades, tints, opacities, ect. to make the look as they are.

Gray Scale Ladder
I haven't painted anything in a long time, but it was nice to step away from the computer screen for a bit and create some things with paint and paper. I'd like to start doing it more.  








































Gray scale ladder - The left column is painted and was done in 10% increments starting from white paint and then adding black to create different shades of gray. The column on the right contains pages from a few different magazines that correspond to the painted color on the left.
